Are you looking for a sweet spot to go for a romantic getaway in Ohio? Well, look no longer because I have a couple of excellent suggestions for you to ponder. The first one is Lake Logan, located in the Hocking Hills of Ohio. It boasts a hotel that epitomizes the idea of the romantic getaway. A Georgian Manner Bed and Breakfast looks just like an elegant Southern mansion, the kind you think of when you’re watching movies like Gone with the Wind. A central portico, tall columns surrounding the entrance . . . you get the idea. The Bed and Breakfast overlooks Lake Logan and from your room you can see a panorama of wildlife including blue herons, geese, and even the occasional beaver. You’ll feel transported into another world, a simpler, more refined and cultured world. I don’t know about you, but for me, that feeling is very conducive to romance. The artwork and tapestries on display throughout also add to the ambiance of a romantic getaway in Ohio, and the horse-drawn carriage rides certainly don’t hurt. And then there are the more intimate amenities, such as the Jacuzzi tub for two located in the honeymoon suite. But of course you don’t have to be on your honeymoon to reserve that suite. Treat yourself to it for an anniversary celebration. Every year, perhaps? Not everybody is drawn to hotels located amidst scenic splendors, though, so my second suggestion for a romantic getaway in Ohio is a scenic riverboat excursion on the Ohio River. The one I’ve tried started off at a floating entertainment center in Cincinnati. That meant that even before the riverboat tour started, my husband and I were in the city and could enjoy all that the city has to offer! We went up to the top of Carew Tower for a panoramic view of the city and, I have to admit, a few romantic kisses and snuggles. What can I say? It has the advantage of being a little chilly up there, which makes it only natural to cling to one another! After that, we enjoyed ourselves at the Cincinnati Art Museum, which has been displaying great works of art since the early 1880′s. With tens of thousands of paintings and sculptures in their collection, it provided us with a very pleasant afternoon. Art is very conducive to a romantic getaway because so much of it is romantic in and of itself! If that museum is a little overwhelming, then you could try the smaller venue of the Taft Museum of Art, which has a darling little cafĂ© when you need to rest your feet and enjoy an espresso with the your romantic partner. And these ideas are just the beginning of the possibilities for romantic getaways in Ohio!
